Abstract

The ADEPT TPS is an innovative TPS scheme developed by NASA Ames Research Center. This TPS scheme will be mounted to a KRUPS capsule in the upcoming KREPE-3 mission. This study performed CFD simulations using the KATS-FD flow solver. CAD modeling software was used to produce high fidelity 2D and 3D CFD meshes. Cases were run with 55.0 km and 52.5 km flow conditions taken from the KREPE-1 mission. Heat flux maps were produced which show distributions due to shockwave interactions.
