Rotor Noise Interference in Distributed Propulsion: An Optimization Strategy Based on Multipole Expansion
Abstract
A theoretical framework is developed to predict and optimise tonal-noise interference in phase-synchronised distributed-propulsion systems. The acoustic field radiated by multiple co-rotating rotors is represented through a multipole expansion based on spherical harmonics and Hankel functions, providing a compact description of the directivity topology associated with different interference modes. The analysis shows that the non-dimensional spacing parameter 2
