El lenguaje instructivo y los mecanismos visuales de segmentación en manuscritos técnicos medievales ingleses
Abstract
This study explores the use of visual elements in technical and pseudoscientific manuscripts from the 10th to the 15th centuries, focusing on their cognitive and organisational roles within the text. The examination of facsimiles from various European and American libraries allows the identification of graphic patterns that structure and hierarchize specialized knowledge. The analysis reveals that colours, diagrams, decorated initials, astronomical tables, and symbolic figures are not merely decorative, but function as tools for interpretation and information management. These visual devices form part of a broader visual epistemology that integrates textual, graphic, and symbolic modes according to a premodern logic of reading.
