Remarks on the Text of the Tabula Lugdunensis, from a Discourse Pragmatic Perspective
Abstract
This contribution takes a discourse pragmatic approach to several textual problems in the text of the Tabula Lugdunensis. It argues that these textual problems can be explained better if we look at Claudius’ (long and difficult) sentences from the perspective of Discourse Acts rather than from a strict syntactic perspective. The contribution proposes to eliminate is in I.11, to read appellitatus in I.22, and to read insertus in I.17, exactus in I.20 and appellitatus in I.22 as passive perfects and not as perfect participles.
