A DINÂMICA DA CRIMINALIDADE NA PARAÍBA

The dynamics of crime in Paraíba has shown a significant decline in the last decade. In the northeast region, Paraíba stood out as a state that showed a continuous decline in the number of Intentional Violent Deaths (MVI) in consecutive years (2012/2022). This highlight has an explanation. With the data available on the state's Department of Social Defense website, we analyzed the actions of public security policies in Paraíba in some historical series and found that these actions were strategically conducted and monitored based on statistical data. The result of this analysis showed us that seizures of illegal firearms, drug seizures and the level of clarification of crimes were important factors in greater crime control in the state. This research had as its analysis design the evaluation of public policy based on scientific evidence, using the analysis of graphs and maps to describe the indicators. Important numbers were highlighted in the descriptive analysis of the data available on the website, with a reduction of -32.1% in MVI between 2012/2022; -78.6% drop in attacks on financial institutions between 2013/2022; and -48.6% drop in Violent Property Crimes (CVP) between 2018/2022. As a negative factor, the growth in vehicle thefts increased by 23.3% in the historical series between 2018/2022.
