Abstract

Invisibility is complex. Drawing on the invisible world of children, parallel to but separate from the world of adults, examples from the natural world, such as spiders, as well as technology and adversitising, this presentation demonstrates that invisiblity is more than one half of the simple opposition 'seen - not seen'. Seeing does not eliminate invisibility. In can, in fact, make it worse.
