Abstract

The study explored the portrayal of climate change science in three leading South African broadsheet newspapers (City Press, The Sunday Independent, and Sunday Times) from 1996 to 2016, focusing on three objective facts: observed climate trends, climate change impacts, and climate projections. It also examined the influence of United Nations climate conferences (COP events) on media coverage and explored how newspaper reporting affects public opinion.
