Creating an inclusive sport and physical activity system in Wales Stage 2 Part 1:Developing an inclusive system to support girls and women in West Wales to become more active – survey and workshop report.
Abstract
Introduction: The report presents findings from a workshop and survey which forms part of a Sport Wales commissioned project, Creating an inclusive sport and physical activity system in Wales. This report presents findings from Stage 2 part 1 of the Creating an inclusive sport and physical activity system in Wales project. Stage 1 findings were provided previously in a report submitted in July 2024 (Crone et al., 2024). This Stage 2 Part 1 report presents the summary and findings from an Innovation Exchange Workshop organised by West Wales Sports Partnership (WWSP). The workshop was aimed at increasing the awareness of and understanding of a systems approach to sport and physical activity participation in West Wales for girls and women. CAWR led on a systems approach session as part of the West Wales Sports Partnership Innovation Exchange, attended by WWSP stakeholders at the National Botanical Gardens, Carmarthen on Wednesday 19th February.Purpose of this work: The purpose of this work by CAWR was twofold. Firstly, using a survey pre and post the workshop, to ascertain pre-knowledge and awareness levels of systems-based working and the World Health Organisation's Global Action Plan on Physical Activity (WHO, 2019). Secondly, to provide a workshop aimed at developing a deeper working understanding of this approach and how it could be developed further as a way of working for stakeholders across West Wales.
