Abstract

This report assesses the impact and effectiveness of financial support on undergraduate students at Anglia Ruskin University (ARU), with particular focus on the ARU Bursary. Using a Type 02 mixed-methods evaluation — comprising a quantitative survey (n=853, 14.78% response rate) and qualitative semi-structured interviews (n=19) — the study examines how financial support affects students' economic situation, academic performance, general well-being, and university experience. Data were drawn from students who received the ARU Bursary in academic years 2021/22 and/or 2022/23. The evaluation was conducted in accordance with the Office for Students (OfS) financial support evaluation toolkit and standards of evidence.
