Abstract

This image portrays PNG and RMN, two women from Berzeen village, seated together in their traditional kitchen, where they work with a freshly dyed batch of wool using walnut husks. Spread on the floor before them are soft strands of dyed wool, rich in deep, earthy tones of browns, extracted through the natural dyeing process. The fire in the background, still glowing with embers, suggests the completion of the simmering stage. The kitchen itself, with its humble utensils and open hearth, underscores the simplicity and resourcefulness of rural life in the Chitral region.
