PNG Handling Dyed Wool and Walnut Husks in Berzeen Village
Abstract
This image shows PNG, a resident of Berzeen village, delicately handling a bundle of wool freshly dyed using walnut husks. Squatting near a metal plate filled with boiled husks, PNG carefully examines the wool, now imbued with natural earthy tones from the dyeing process. The dyeing process, which uses natural walnut pigments, is part of an age-old tradition practiced in the Chitral region, passed down through generations and sustained by the local environment.
