MAK Adding Soap During Felting Process in Garam Chashma
Abstract
MAK is captured mid-process adding soap to layers of Shu cloth during the traditional felting process in Garam Chashma. The use of soap aids in breaking down the fibers, allowing them to interlock more effectively when combined with hot spring water and manual pressure. The scene shows the soapy layers of cloth on the ground, ready to undergo further felting. Wooden sticks and water containers are visible in the background, highlighting the tools used in this labor-intensive and culturally significant practice of Shu production.
