Traditional Felting Process of Shu Cloth by MAK in Garam Chashma
Abstract
MAK is shown engaged in the intricate process of felting Shu cloth in the hot springs of Garam Chashma. Using a sturdy wooden stick, he twists and presses the cloth while standing barefoot in the felting pool. The soapy water and felting tools around him highlight the labor-intensive process that transforms woven wool into dense and durable Shu fabric. The natural setting and traditional methods underscore the cultural significance and sustainability of this craft, deeply rooted in the local heritage of Chitral.
