Abstract

A close-up view of a spindle and a ball of wound thread, known locally in the Khowar language as Pindalu, resting on a weathered wooden surface in Royee village, Chitral. The thread, meticulously spun and wound into a compact ball, showcases the precision and craftsmanship of the spinning process. The earthy tones of the spindle, thread, and background reflect the natural materials and sustainable techniques integral to Chitrali Shu traditions.
