Satur and Thasuruk Tools for Traditional Spinning and Weaving
Abstract
The image captures two essential tools used in traditional spinning and weaving in Chitral. The Satur, the longer stick, is a critical component of the spinning wheel, used in the creation of warp threads. The smaller spools, known as Thasuruk, are used inside the shuttle during weaving to carry the weft thread. Both tools, crafted from locally sourced wood, highlight the sustainable practices and meticulous craftsmanship of Chitrali artisans. The natural setting further emphasizes the cultural and functional significance of these tools in the production of Shu cloth.
