FAIRsharing record for: Archives of Photographic PLates for Astronomical USE
Abstract
This FAIRsharing record describes: The Plate Archive (APPLAUSE) is a digital repository of historical astronomical photographic plates and associated metadata from multiple observatories, preserved and scanned at high resolution for scientific use. It includes images of the original plates, observation logbooks, and extracted astrometric and photometric data, enabling long-term studies of celestial objects and light curves. The project integrates this archival material into modern astronomical research frameworks, such as the International Virtual Observatory, making these century-old observations accessible for analysis today.
