Abstract
This article examines the research and restoration activities undertaken by P. D. Baranovsky in the city of Vladimir between the 1920s and 1940s. His work primarily involved surveying the condition of historical monuments and overseeing restoration efforts. In certain cases, such as the Dormition Cathedral of the Knyaginin Convent, Baranovsky’s decisions significantly impacted the monument’s appearance. During the 1940s, while employed by the Main Directorate for the Protection of Monuments, he provided expert evaluations and comments on restoration proposals for landmarks, including the Cathedral of St. Demetrius, the Golden Gate, and the Chambers of Andrei Bogolyubsky, advising on other architects’ projects.
