Abstract
This article presents the preliminary attribution of a winged bronze figurine that was discovered in 2023 during research works at the Dormition Cathedral in Vladimir. The figurine was found in a cavity between the layers of the cathedral’s floor. It is suggested that the figurine, which was cast using the lost-wax technique, does not depict an angel, but rather an allegorical figure that was part of the decorative scheme of a Western European ecclesiastical candelabrum. Based on comparative material, the object can be dated to the second half of the 12th century and attributed to Lombard craftsmanship.
