Reading in and Between the Lines: Unearthing Modernism with History and Data
Abstract
Virginia and Leonard Woolf’s Hogarth Press sold thousands of books, the sales of which they recorded in a collection of order books. Jacobs and Gibbs traced these transactions, qualitatively through bookshop biographies and quantitatively through visual analytics. Combined, these methodologies create holistic insights on the Hogarth Press and offer a novel insight on modernism more broadly.
