SHEIKH MANSUR AND HIS FIGHT

Статья посвящена одной из ярких страниц в истории России – борьбе горцев Северо-Восточного Кавказа за независимость 1785-1791 гг. под руководством шейха Мансура. Рассматриваются вопросы, связанные со становлением дореволюционной, советской и постсоветской историографии движения шейха Мансура. Выявленные новые документальные материалы, оригинальный текст письма Ума-хана имаму Мансуру свидетельствуют, что Мансура совершенно справедливо можно назвать первым имамом Чечни и Дагестана. Имеющиеся документальные источники дают полное основание говорить о Мансуре как первом общекавказском военно-политическом лидере. The article is devoted to one of the brightest pages in the history of Russia – the struggle of the mountaineers of the North-Eastern Caucasus for independence in 1785-1791 under the leadership of Sheikh Mansur. The issues related to the formation of pre-revolutionary, Soviet and post-Soviet historiography of the Sheikh Mansur movement are considered. The newly discovered documentary materials and the original text of Uma Khan's letter to Imam Mansur indicate that Mansur can rightfully be considered the first Imam of Chechnya and Dagestan. The available documentary sources provide ample evidence of Mansur's role as the firstpan-Caucasian military and political leader.
