SHEIKH MANSOU'S ACTIVITIES FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF ISLAM AMONG THE NORTH CAUCASIAN PEOPLES

В статье на основе анализа и широкого использования разнообразных источников рассматривается движению народов Кавказа под предводительством шейха Мансура в 1783–1791 гг. против российской политики в регионе. Движение шейха Мансура явилось предвестием национально-освободительного движения горцев. Личность шейха Мансура и движение им возглавленное представляет несомненный интерес в связи с зарождением и развитием управлением идеологии мюридизма. Есть все основания считать, что именно шейх Мансур первым сформулировал и развил идею об Имамате и имаме как легитимном вожде всех мусульман Кавказа. В отечественной литературе Мансура принято называть шейхом, но в абсолютном большинстве архивных документов и работах дореволюционных авторов он называется имамом или с приставкой «лжеимам». Based on the analysis and wide use of various sources, the arti cle examines the movement of the peoples of the Caucasus under the lead ership of Sheikh Mansour in 1783–1791 against Russian policy in the re gion. Sheikh Mansour's movement was a harbinger of the national libera tion movement of the Highlanders. The personality of Sheikh Mansour and the movement led by him is of undoubted interest in connection with the origin and development of the political ideology of Muridism. There is every reason to believe that it was Sheikh Mansour who first formulated and developed the idea of the Imamate and the imam as the legitimate leader of all Muslims in the Caucasus. In Russian literature, Mansur is usually called a sheikh, but in the vast majority of archival documents and works by pre-revolutionary authors, he is called an imam or with the pre fix false imam.
