Abstract
The article examines the contribution of the Abkhazian school of historical Caucasian studies, from Soviet times to the present day, devoted to the study of a complex of issues relevant to Chechen (Nakh) history. The special feature of Soviet historical science, which paid close attention to the training of national personnel in Caucasian studies, is briefly analyzed. In this regard, the Abkhaz historians (G.A. Dzidzaria, G.Sh. Gumba et al.) went far beyond the boundaries of Abkhazian historical science and occupied a worthy place on the pedestal of scientific Caucasian studies, in particular on the problems of Nakh (Chechen-Ingush) history from the Middle Ages to the modern period.
