THE RELIGIOUS FACTOR IN THE LIBERATION STRUGGLE OF THE CIRCASSIANS (60-s of the XVIII – 40-s of the XIX centure)
Abstract
XIX в. In the history of the Circassians, the religious component occupies an important place. Analysis of the religious factor allows us to rethink some of the features of the Adyghe mentality. In particular, the Muslim religion had a significant influence on the historical destinies of the Circassians. In the 40s XIX century The North Caucasus was a complex tangle of intertwined foreign policy and socio-economic internal contradictions. Tensions remained between Russia and Turkey, supported by England and other Western European states. Social conflicts and movements of the masses flared up almost continuously in one or another region of the region. All this gave a certain flavor and had a direct or indirect impact on the situation in the North-West Caucasus.
