Abstract
д. This publication is devoted to a current and highly interesting, but little-studied, academic problem. The article, in a retrospective context, examines Russia's contribution to the development of international law over the period from the Peace of Westphalia (1648) to the adoption of the United Nations Charter (1945). The author comes to a general conclusion that Russia's contribution to the development of international law during this period was tangible, significant, and comprehensive, and included active participation in the conclusion of international (peace and trade) treaties and the creation of international organizations (since the 18th century); the development of principles and norms governing the formation and functioning of military-political alliances; initiatives in the field of international law, as well as ideas of a just world order; the contribution of scholars of pre-revolutionary Russia to the development of international law, in particular, international humanitarian law, etc.
