Abstract

This study focuses on analyzing the role of international acts and standards in ensuring human rights in the criminal justice system of the Russian Federation. The study emphasizes that the effective implementation of the rights of suspects, accused, and convicted individuals is impossible without consistent compliance with the obligations arising from international treaties, as well as the principles enshrined in the Constitution of the Russian Federation and the criminal executive legislation. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the comprehensive analysis and systematization of the legal, factual, and conceptual connections between the concepts of «torture» and «inadequate conditions in penal institutions». The research results can be used to improve legislation, law enforcement practices, as well as in expert and judicial activities, including the consideration of complaints in international human rights bodies.
