Dataset on clinical cohort and systematic review on gender diversity in differences/disorders of sex development.
Abstract
This dataset comprises information derived from two research sources: (1) structured extraction of studies included in a systematic literature review on gender identity/gender incongruence in individuals with differences/disorders of sex development (DSD), and (2) a clinical observational study database conducted at a Brazilian university hospital. Both studies were presented in the author’s doctoral thesis. The systematic review data include methodological variables of the studies (year, country, design, sample size), clinical characteristics of the evaluated populations (DSD diagnoses, sex assigned at birth), and outcomes related to gender identity, gender questioning, and sex reassignment. Data extraction was performed in a standardized manner from eligible articles according to a predefined protocol. The clinical cohort data include sociodemographic, diagnostic, and clinical variables, as well as information obtained through structured interviews and administration of the validated WHOQOL-Bref instrument for quality-of-life assessment. The database was constructed from medical record review and direct participant data collection, followed by coding, anonymization, and organization into a structured spreadsheet for statistical analysis. Due to restrictions established in a specific data-sharing agreement with international registries (I-DSD/I-CAH/I-TS Registries), data originating from these registries and presented in the thesis are not included in this repository. Additional information may be requested directly from the author in accordance with current ethical and institutional regulations.
