Abstract

Residential aged care staff are at risk of burnout due to unique challenges in their workplaces. Given the ageing population, there is a demand for aged care services and it is therefore important to help reduce burnout in staff members. This thesis outlines the associated factors, experiences and management of burnout. It was found that support, confidence and adaptive coping are associated factors of burnout. Increasing support from supervisors and co-workers, having self-confidence and equipping staff with educational training can assist staff to better manage their burnout.
