Progression of complications in young-adult-onset diabetes
Abstract
This thesis explores type 2 diabetes in young people and how it progresses over time. It uses large databases and clinical trial data to study how disease progression and how diagnosis at a younger age affect the risk of health problems. The research shows that younger people face more complications mainly because they live longer with diabetes and often have higher body weight at diagnosis. These findings highlight the importance of early diagnosis, regular risk monitoring, and appropriate care to help young people manage diabetes and reduce long-term health problems.
