Abstract

The ESG Playbook: Practical Steps for Manufacturing SMEs is an applied guidance document designed to support manufacturing small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles into their business strategy and operations. Grounded in the Malaysian manufacturing context, the playbook translates global ESG frameworks into actionable, resource-appropriate steps across the manufacturing value chain. It combines sectoral analysis, ESG archetypes, and real-world case studies to illustrate how SMEs can enhance resilience, competitiveness, and long-term value creation while contributing to national sustainability and industrial transformation goals.
