Abstract

Leadership in Action: Sustainable Finance Case Studies is a practice-oriented case study that documents and analyzes the real-world sustainable finance journeys of leading Malaysian corporations across the telecommunications, palm oil, renewable energy, and energy sectors. Through in-depth case studies of Axiata Group Berhad, IOI Corporation Berhad, reNIKOLA Holdings Sdn Bhd, and Yinson Holdings Berhad, the report illustrates how firms integrate environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations into financing decisions, including sustainability-linked loans, green trade finance, green sukuk, and sustainability-linked sukuk. The case study highlights implementation challenges, governance mechanisms, performance targets, and value creation outcomes, offering practical insights for corporates, financial institutions, policymakers, and practitioners seeking to advance sustainable finance and support Malaysia’s transition towards a resilient, low-carbon economy.
