Reliable energy storage system design and control for mine site microgrid
Abstract
This thesis investigates the design and control of a reliable energy storage system (ESS) tailored for off-grid mine site microgrids. The study covers vanadium redox flow battery modeling using AI-based methods, as well as the development and experimental validation of robust AC/DC and DC/DC control strategies based on the Youla parameterisation. The research integrates simulation, hardware testing, and control optimisation, contributing a practical framework to improve power stability and system resilience in remote mining applications.
