SonoTactile: Plant Cells
Abstract
SonoTactile: Plant Cells is an audiovisual performance exploring self-similar structures linking micro-scale biological processes and macro-scale audiovisual form. Drawing on plant cellular behaviour and leaf structures, the work translates ecological patterns into abstract sound–image relationships mediated through real-time performance. Using the Buchla Music Easel as a singular sound source alongside advanced looping techniques and responsive visuals, the performance investigates immersive compositional strategies that reveal otherwise inaudible and invisible processes. Presented within a research-focused concert of interactive composition, the work contributes to practice-led research into ecological abstraction, real-time audiovisual integration, and immersive performance paradigms.
