Abstract

Dynamic pricing represents one of the most significant developments in contemporary business practice, as it enables the continuous adjustment of prices based on factors such as demand, supply, competition, and consumer behaviour. Unlike traditional pricing models that rely on fixed prices, dynamic pricing leverages real-time data and analytical tools in order to optimize price levels and maximize business profitability. The emergence and rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) have substantially enhanced this process, enabling more accurate demand forecasting, automated decision-making, and the implementation of complex pricing strategies that could not be achieved using conventional methods. By incorporating algorithmic models, firms are able to analyse large volumes of data, including historical sales records, demand patterns, seasonal fluctuations and user behaviour across digital platforms, and information related to the competitive environment. In this context, price ceases to be a static variable and evolves into a dynamic strategic instrument capable of adapting promptly to market conditions and generating more reliable forecasts. At the same time, Machine Learning techniques allow pricing systems to learn from data and continuously improve their performance, leading to increasingly accurate estimations of demand and optimal price levels. Algorithms such as regression models, decision trees, neural networks, and reinforcement learning contribute to the development of flexible and self adaptive pricing mechanisms, enhancing the economic performance of organizations. However, dynamic pricing is not solely focused on revenue maximization. It also contributes to improved market efficiency by aligning prices with consumers’ perceived value at any given time. Despite its benefits, the implementation of such systems is accompanied by significant challenges, including issues of transparency, algorithmic bias, and ethical concerns related to fairness, accessibility, and consumer protection. The integration of technological innovation with economic theory and regulatory frameworks renders dynamic pricing a highly interdisciplinary field, which continues to evolve in parallel with technological progress.
