Abstract

Child caregiving and volunteering estimates from Economist Enterprise, based on data from the American Time Use Survey (IPUMS dataset) and U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics GDP contributions of those age 50-plus ($ billion in 2024 prices) Households age 50-plus were responsible for 56 cents of every dollar spent in 2024.
