Nanoscale morphometric visualization of the endoplasmic reticulum under stress using a bright zinc complex
Abstract
The endoplasmic reticulum (ER) undergoes dynamic morphological changes during cellular stress and disease, yet specific staining and nanoscale observation remain challenging. We report a highly bright, biocompatible, and nontoxic fluorescent Zn-complex for super-resolution imaging of the ER. Super-resolution radial fluctuation microscopy (SRRF) resolves the smallest tubular diameter of ER, 110 nm, and quantifies stress-induced morphological remodeling.
