Abstract

Cross-electrophile coupling under nickel catalysis is a powerful approach for assembling aryl and alkyl electrophiles.Herein, we report that tertbutylmagnesium chloride is an efficient homogeneous reductive reagent for the coupling of aryl-and primary or secondary alkyl iodides. The reaction proceeds at room temperature in a non-amide solvent and reaches the completion with one hour. The reaction conditions are mild enough to tolerate ester, amide, carbamate and sulfonate groups.I R 1 + R 2 I R 3 MgCl [Ni] in THF over 60 min at room temperature R 1 R 2 R 3 1 o and 2 o alkyl iodides, esters, amides, carbamates are tolerated bipyridine ligand
