Abstract

This paper presents the results of research conducted between 2020 and 2022 at the Faculty of Architecture and Design of the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico. Its purpose is to draw attention to the need to provide a solid foundation for transformative education by considering information and communication technologies, knowledge, and digital learning (TICCAD, by its acronym in Spanish), based on the level of understanding that the university community has of fundamental aspects such as the tools they use to access information, engage in dialogue, and construct arguments. The interpretation of the data collected through an online survey was carried out following the theoretical framework of action theory. The findings highlight three key elements: the university community’s willingness to engage in TICCAD-related training, the use of mobile phones in design education, and instability in internet connectivity. Accordingly, the study underscores the need to continue training faculty members, students, and administrative staff in digital education; to develop teaching resources designed for deployment through mobile devices; and to formulate policies, strategies, and guidelines related to connectivity.
