Formulation and Evaluation Metformin - Sitagliptin fixed - dose combination for type 2 diabetes patients
Abstract
Long - term medication is necessary for type 2 diabetes mellitus, and combination therapy is frequently required to maintain glycaemic control. Fixed - dose combos offer supplementary pharmacological effect, increase adherence, and lessen pill load. Developing and testing a fixed - dose combination tablet of metformin hydrochloride and sitagliptin phosphate, as well as evaluating its physicochemical and in vitro performance, are the goals. The study design is an industry - based, experimental investigation of pharm aceutical formulation. Materials and Procedures: Pharmaceutical - grade excipients were used in the wet granulation method to create the tablets. Preformulation research, drug - excipient compatibility tests, and post - compression evaluations were conducted. HP LC and approved UV - visible spectrophotometric methods were used for the assay and dissolution tests. Results: For weight fluctuation, hardness, friability, disintegration, and content homogeneity, the prepared tablets met pharmacopeial limits. For both med ications, dissolution experiments showed acceptable release patterns. In conclusion, the proposed formulation demonstrated consistent in - vitro performance and acceptable quality features, suggesting that it is suitable for large - scale manufacturing.
