Abstract

Piezoelectric and pyroelectric crystals are the functional materials exhibiting unique electromechanical and thermoelectric properties. Piezoelectric crystals generate electric charge in response to mechanical stress, while pyroelectric crystals produce an electrical output due to temperature variations. Both phenomena arise from the non-centrosymmetric nature of their crystal lattices, enabling spontaneous polarization. These crystals are integral to a wide range of technologies, including sensors, actuators, infrared detectors, and energy harvesting devices. Advancements in material science have significantly improved the efficiency, stability of these crystals, enabling their integration into modern electronic devices, biomedical technologies, and renewable energy systems.
