Abstract

Potassium Titanyl Phosphate (KTP) and its isomorphic variants are important for photonic devices due to their strong electro-optic properties, featuring a high figure of merit for optical waveguide modulators. KTP enables low-loss optical waveguides and excels in various electro- optic and nonlinear-optic applications, attributed to its large nonlinear optical and electro-optic coefficients, high optical damage thresholds, and favorable conditions for second-harmonic generation. Current Chapter is focused on improving frequency conversion efficiency through domain engineering in KTP crystals, with an emphasis on the structure and creation of periodic domain patterns for enhanced nonlinear optical applications.
