Abstract

Innovation management in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the event management sector is a critical factor to ensure their sustainability and competitiveness in post-pandemic contexts. This study analyzed the influence of innovative practices on economic, social and environmental indicators, using a mixed methodological approach that combined structured surveys and semi structured interviews in SMEs in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Quantitative results revealed significant correlations, such as the relationship between the adoption of logistics technologies and annual turnover, as well as between service customization and net margins. Qualitative analysis highlighted tensions between automation and human warmth, along with structural barriers to implementing sustainable practices, such as high costs and lack of awareness of incentives. Although the study validates international findings on innovation and profitability, it exposes local particularities, such as low investment in technology and the absence of clear policies for renewable energy. These results underscore the need for integrated interventions that balance operational efficiency, social responsibility and cultural adaptability, supported by regulatory frameworks and academia-industry partnerships.
