Abstract
We find supersensory (atindriya) perspective of Bibhutibhusan Bandyopadhyay in many parts of his writings.Perhaps his sixth sense was very active which was evident in his own life too.In this context, we must refer to his novel Dristipradip where in the character named Jitu, we find this kind of perspective. In case of Pather Panchali and Aparajita, we also find that Apu could visualize the unseen through his farsightedness. In his short story entitled Mukti and novel Bipiner Sansar we witness this kind of perspective. Now a question can arise is it possible to see the unseen with supersensory perspective or can the sixth sense be so active to witness what is yet to happen? If it is possible, how can it be explained philosophically? In search of this answer, the author discussed from different systems of Indian Philosophy.Even Batrihari's Pratibha jnana has been discussed in this context.Apart from this, it has also been discussed that Bubhuti bhusan's this type of Supersensory (atindriya) perspective is also found in Tomas Hardy's novel 'Tess of The D'urbervills'.
