Abstract
Manoj Basu is a famous fiction writer in Bengali literature. He witnessed the partition of the country on the basis of religion and the resulting communal riots between Hindus and Muslims. The breakdown of the long-standing coexistence and cordial relationship between Hindus and Muslims hurt the writer-artist Manoj Basu.He could not accept Hindus and Muslims as opposing forces. Therefore, he repeatedly wrote against this human disunity and spoke about Hindu-Muslim unity.Even in the midst of the riots, when the hatred between Hindus and Muslims has reached its peak, the writer Manoj Basu has emphasized the mutual love between these two communities. This is reflected significantly in the stories 'Yasin Mian', 'Bande Mataram', 'Tanter Maku', 'Manush', 'Dangar Ekti Kahini', 'Dangar Dag', 'Hindu-Musalman', 'Hindu-Muslim Danga', 'Balidan', 'Simanta', 'Epar-Opar', etc.In this article, we have discussed all these stories in detail and sought to explore the non-communal humane sentiments of the poet Manoj Basu.
