Abstract

This research paper investigates the intricate dimensions of silence as portrayed through the lens of photography, with a specific focus on exploring "Fifty Shades of Silence." Through a qualitative analysis of storytelling narrative photographs, the study aims to unravel the nuances of silence perception among students of Amity University Kolkata, Department of Amity School of Fine Arts, Semester 4 (BFA-Animation). By delving into how visual narratives capture the diverse expressions and interpretations of silence, the research contributes to a deeper understanding of the multifaceted nature of silence and its representation in visual art. The methodology involves analysing photographs within larger visual narratives, providing insights into how silence is conveyed and understood through sequential imagery. This study's emphasis on the perspectives and interpretations of budding artists within a specific educational setting enriches our understanding of silence and its significance in the realm of visual culture, ultimately highlighting the profound ways in which silence is perceived, expressed, and interpreted through the medium of photography.
