Clinical and diagnostic errors in the diagnosis of scleroderma: a case study
Abstract
A clinical case of localized linear scleroderma in an 18-year-old patient is presented. A distinctive feature of this case is the long history of the disease, which began at the age of 3, and the initial misdiagnosis of melanocytic nevus, which led to a 15-year delay in the verification of the diagnosis and the start of treatment. The importance of a comprehensive approach, including thorough history taking, analysis of clinical dynamics, and morphological examination in differential diagnosis, is emphasized. This observation illustrates the diagnostic challenges and the need for a multidisciplinary approach in the management of patients with rare forms of scleroderma.
