O artigo analisa a transição do papado de Francisco para Leão XIV, destacando o legado da sinodalidade. Francisco (†2025) transformou-a de conceito teológico em prática eclesial, com a imagem da “pirâmide invertida” e a valorização do sensus fidei do povo de Deus. A eleição do cardeal Robert Francis Prevost como Leão XIV gerou dúvidas sobre a continuidade dessa ênfase. Com experiência pastoral e sólida formação em Direito Canônico, o novo pontífice, em seus primeiros discursos e ações, indica que não apenas manterá a sinodalidade, mas a consolidará. Se Francisco foi o impulso inicial e carismático, Leão XIV busca dar consistência institucional e canônica, tornando-a um eixo estrutural da vida eclesial. Sua nomeação de uma mulher para alto cargo na Cúria é sinal de continuidade e avanço. O texto conclui que cabe ao novo papa transformar o carisma sinodal de Francisco em realidade duradoura e estrutural na Igreja. Abstract: The article analyzes the transition from Francis to Leo XIV, highlighting the legacy of synodality. Francis (†2025) transformed it from a theological concept into an ecclesial practice, with the image of the “inverted pyramid” and the appreciation of the sensus fidei of the People of God. The election of Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost as Leo XIV raised questions about the continuity of this emphasis. With pastoral experience and a solid background in Canon Law, the new pope, through his first speeches and actions, indicates that he will not only preserve synodality but also consolidate it. If Francis was the charismatic and initial impulse, Leo XIV seeks to provide institutional and canonical consistency, making it a structural axis of ecclesial life. His appointment of a woman to a high-ranking Curia position is seen as a sign of continuity and progress.
