3D Printing Technology in Mechanical Manufacturing: Applications and Development Trendsumn format
Abstract
The global manufacturing landscape is undergoing a profound transformation driven by the integration of 3D printing technology, a cornerstone of additive manufacturing (AM).This paper provides a comprehensive analysis of the technical mechanisms, industrial applications, and future prospects of 3D printing in mechanical manufacturing.By examining processes such as selective laser melting (SLM) and electron beam melting (EBM), the study demonstrates how 3D printing addresses long-standing challenges in traditional manufacturing, including material waste, lengthy production cycles, and design constraints.Empirical data from aerospace, automotive, and medical sectors reveal that 3D printing can reduce production times by 40-60%, enhance material utilization to over 90%, and enable the fabrication of complex geometries unattainable through conventional methods. However, challenges in precision engineering, mass production costs, and multi-material integration are identified. The research highlights emerging trends, such as AI-optimized process control, multi-material composite printing, and sustainable manufacturing systems, which are critical for advancing 3D printing as a mainstream manufacturing solution. These findings offer theoretic and practical insights for industry stakeholders to leverage 3D printing's potential in driving innovation, efficiency, and sustainability in mechanical manufacturing..
