Polysemy as one of the ways of forming antonymous relations in the Crimean Tatar language
Abstract
This article examines polysemy as a productive means of forming antonyms in the Crimean Tatar language. The study focuses on identifying and analyzing antonymic pairs that arise from polysemantic lexemes. The article presents an analysis of the semantic structure of polysemantic words that exhibit antonymic relationships between different lexical-semantic variants. Particular attention is paid to the contextual determinacy of antonymic relations and the identification of patterns of antonymy formation based on polysemy. The aim of the study is to identify antonymic relations formed as a result of the polysemy of the lexeme “агъыр” (heavy) in the Crimean Tatar language. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the fact that for the first time in Crimean Tatar linguistics, the features of the semantic structure of the polysemantic lexeme “агъыр” (heavy) have been established, and antonymic correlations of the linguistic unit under study have been revealed. The following research findings were obtained: the semantic structure of the polysemantic word “агъыр” (heavy) contains 15 lexical-semantic variants; each lexical-semantic variant has its own semantic opposition, represented by both complete and incomplete antonymic pairs. The main factors contributing to the formation of antonyms based on word polysemy were identified.
