Abstract

Abstract We study the bias of the Gini coefficient estimator for zero-truncated Poisson (ZTP) distributions. A closed-form expression for the bias is derived, and a bias-corrected estimator is proposed. Monte Carlo simulations show that the corrected estimator significantly reduces bias. These results improve the reliability of inequality measures in truncated count data, with applications in fields such as epidemiology.
