Abstract

Abstract This paper investigates the concentration dependence of the distribution of Nd3+ ions between the Nd1 and Nd2 sites in the Y2SiO5 crystal lattice and the associated changes in the absorption and photoluminescence spectra of the crystals. It was found that at low neodymium concentrations, Nd3+ ions predominantly occupy the 7-coordination positions Nd1, while at higher concentrations, the 6-coordination positions Nd2 are also filled, leading to structural deformations and changes in the spectral luminescence characteristics of the crystal.
